" I try to remember that there's an important integrity that comes with teaching. It is a huge responsibility and a humbling privilege to teach people yoga, because we are reflecting back their inner goodness and inherent divinity. So when I remember that, I can't teach my students if I don't practice. Practicing opens the door of connection between you and every person who's taught yoga. " Judith Lasater

         ABOUT RELAXATION YOGA

RELAXATION YOGA IS A MINDFUL HATHA YOGA PRACTICE WHERE WE PRACTICE FEELING GOOD!!!

RELAXATION YOGA IS YOUR CLASS THEREFORE....

THE CLASS ENVIRONMENT IS INFORMAL, FUN, NON-COMPETITIVE AND COMFORTABLE!

SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT. YOU ARE GUIDED TO CONTINUALLY CHECK IN WITH WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR BODY AND TO ONLY DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU ON THAT DAY HONORING ANY RESTRICTIONS.

POSES ARE DONE SLOWER SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSE OF THE MOVEMENT/POSTURE AND TO ENSURE SAFETY. Consider that In a group class unconditionally moving at a fast pace and without awareness may not serve your needs and risk injuring yourself.  In reference to the 2012 New York Times article concerning yoga injuries please have a look at  http://www.thinkbodyelectric.com/2012/01/in-praise-of-local-yoga-teacher.html

POSES ARE DONE SLOWER TO HELP YOU ACCESS BIOFEEDBACK AND INCREASED BODY AWARENESS.

POSES ARE DONE SLOWER TO HELP YOU CHECK IN WITH WHAT IS “GOING ON” IN THE BODY, THE MIND AND TO RECONNECT THE TWO!!

A RELAXATION YOGA PRACTICE MAY HELP YOU PREVENT INJURY AND, IF ALREADY INJURED OR ILL, RELAXATION YOGA CAN BE INSIGHTFUL AND THERAPEUTIC.

THIS IS YOUR CLASS.

IT IS THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM THAT PARTICIPANTS BEGIN TO SCHEDULE A DAILY RELAXATION YOGA SELF CARE PRACTICE "ON THE MAT" AT HOME.

YOUR PRACTICE WILL NATURALLY BEGIN TO SHOW UP IN YOUR “LIFE OFF THE MAT” MAKING FEELING GOOD AN ACCESSIBLE PART OF YOUR EXPERIENCE EVERY DAY..NO MATTER WHAT! "RELAXATION YOGA SELF CARE PROGRAM" IS A SPECIFIC METHOD OF PRACTICING "FEELING GOOD"!

Image result for IMAGE THE WAVE FORGETS THAT IT IS THE OCEAN

The wave forgets the truth that it is ocean, thinking itself To be the grand shape, which it has temporarily taken. For a while, it takes on the rupa (form) of wave. Finally, it remembe rs its true rupa (form) of ocean. The two coexist, though one is true, and theother, though beautiful, is only relatively true. So too, we humans forget our true nature, but, through yoga, can remember.

The Aim of Yoga is to allow the Spirit to find it’s true nature as Observer of the world and its a Teacher of Yoga’s responsibility to guide the Student towards that mark..
